The Basenji, is often called the “barkless dog,” because it produces a yodel-like sound that doesn’t alert hunters to a prey’s location. Other problems are that they are prone to disappear, work for themselves, and because they chase anything they are unreliable in hunting scenarios that require obedience. They are transactional and won’t follow a command unless there is a clear benefit to them. They generally dislike cold, rain, or wet conditions, and may refuse to hunt in bad weather.
The Bible sternly warns against blind, lazy, and corrupt leaders who have abandoned their duties and fail to bark and protect the people. Leaders who choose instead to pursue selfish gain and sensual pleasure. Instead of warning against danger, they are described as “sleeping and loving to slumber.” Leaders who encourage indulgence while ignoring coming destruction, living in the past, saying all is well, “tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.”
Are you following a barkless dog, (a leader, politician, or minister) that fails to bark and protect the people?
“Their watchmen are all blind: they have no knowledge: they are all dumb dogs: they cannot bark: they lie and sleep, and delight in sleeping.” (Isaiah 56:10)
