I thank God for his promise to prosper believers like fir and myrrh trees, able to endure and flourish in dry arid conditions. He uses the example of the myrrh tree which produces a valuable sap that hardens into “tears” used historically for incense, perfumes, and as an antiseptic/anti-inflammatory agent to treat wounds and pain.
God knows what we need. He instructed the Three Kings to bring myrrh in anticipation of what Jesus would need, that “valuable sap”, that ability to give his life as a propitiation for our sins. In the same way, God promises in his word to prosper us like the fir and myrrh tree and give us that “valuable sap”- his Son, Jesus, and his Holy Spirit so that we might flourish in life amidst any dry arid conditions.
It is through the hardening of our tears that a valuable sap is produced changing the nettles, the “stinging hairs” of life into flourishing myrrh trees, that give forth a fragrance, a medicinal quality so much so that like the three Hebrew boys we are able to go through the fires of life and come out without any singed hair, scorched clothes, or any scent of fire.
“For thorns there shall grow fir trees; for nettles shall grow the myrrh tree, and it shall be to the Lord for a name, and for an everlasting sign that shall not be taken away.” (Isaiah 55:13)
Enjoy your day, use it wisely and know that the best is yet to come! ❤️ always and forever.
